I met Matt in 1998. We got married in 2000, and the day after we got married, we moved into our first house together. With a lot of help from my dad in the beginning, we started our DIY journey. We have learned so much over the years that I should write an entire post about that, but today, I wanted to share some DIY projects that look expensive but aren’t.
The reason we DIYed for so long was that we saved so much money doing the work to get the look for a lot less. Now, we continue to do it because not only do we love it, but things aren’t built like they used to be, so if we can get the real thing that just needs a makeover or some modifications, we would much rather do that.
I thought it would be fun to put together this post with DIY projects that look expensive but aren’t. Because that is one of the points, right? You DIY some things to get the look of something more expensive for a lot less. At least, that is what I like to do. I love going into a retail store or browsing higher-end stores online and finding things that I love, but I know I can DIY or recreate for a lot less. It fuels my creative soul. It challenges me, and I love that.
