Furniture Flipping Products You Shouldn’t Live Without

6 Mins read

I have been flipping furniture for over twenty years. I started doing it to furnish our first home on a budget. That quickly grew into people wanting to buy my pieces. This flipping journey has been amazing and I have learned so much over the years. One of the biggest things I have learned is all about furniture flipping products. I know what works and what doesn’t. I know what you need on hand to make the process easiest and what will create the best outcome in the end. This post is packed full of all the furniture flipping products you shouldn’t live without no matter if you are flipping for your own home or to sell.

Primer

You need a good primer. You want one that will block out stains, odors, smells, etc. I have tried many primers over the years and this is the one I keep coming back to. It works so well and does that it says it should.

Topcoat

Just like a primer, a good topcoat is a must. This topcoat comes in different sheens and protects your pieces well.

If you are flipping furniture, these furniture flipping products will make every one of your projects easier and flawless in the end.

Blue Sponge

This is the $3 tool that I will never be without. Once you use this sponge to apply a topcoat, you will wonder why you haven’t heard of it before. It is the only thing I use to apply topcoats. You don’t get any brushstrokes with it and you can get it in all the nooks and crannies you need to. You can use it to apply paint and other things but make sure you try it the next time you apply a topcoat. I want to hear all about the experience and how happy you are about the $3 purchase. 🙂

Continuous Spray Bottle

This bottle is under $10 and will alleviate brush strokes when you are brushing paint on your furniture pieces. In my YouTube video HERE, I show you how it works.

Salve

As soon as I tried this salve for the first time, I was smitten. This salve is AH-MAZING! I use it inside drawers, to revive old wood, heck… I even use it in my car. You can use this stuff in so many places but I always have it on hand for my furniture projects. The scents they have are the best too. You will not find one you don’t like. I always get asked which scent I like the best. The answer is “Tobacco Flower” or “Teakwood and Amber”. I recommend going with the scents you like for things like hand soap, candles, lotions, etc.

paintbrushes

Paintbrushes

If you are painting furniture, you need to get some good paintbrushes. TRUST ME! Do not waste your money on cheap brushes because they will fall apart on your piece as you paint, they won’t apply the paint well, and they don’t clean up well enough to keep them for another project. I wasted so much time and money on cheap brushes when I started and I paid big time for it because it took me triple the time to do the project and I would have to keep buying them because they didn’t last. Now, I only buy certain brushes because they last forever and they make my painting life flawless.

These are my favorite brushes:

Cling-On Brushes

Zibra

Synthetic Brushes

paint

Paint

It is so important to find a paint brand that you love. I have used MANY paint brands over the year and I keep coming back to these favorites.

Dixie Belle Paint

All-In-One Paint (this has the primer, paint, and topcoat in one can!!!)

Wise Owl Paint

steel wool

Steel Wool (in different grades)

You won’t use this on every project but you will use it on some. It is a good idea to have some on hand in different grades when you come across a project that needs it.

Stripper

In twenty years, I have only stripped a few projects. I don’t like to do it because it is so time-consuming, it is messy, and a lot of times it doesn’t work. I have used different stripping products over the years and I have found one that I really like. This stripping product makes me want to find more pieces to strip. You can watch me using it for the first time in my YouTube video HERE

Tiny Sander

This tiny hand-held sander comes in so handy. It can get in areas other sanders can’t. It is an expensive furniture flipping product to always have on hand.

Sandpaper

Always have sandpaper on hand. You will use it on most projects.

Orbital Sander

This is the sander I had for the first 17 years of flipping. I still use this sander on many projects but I have added another sander that I linked below on a lot of projects too.

If you are flipping furniture, these furniture flipping products will make every one of your projects easier and flawless in the end.

Restor-A-Finish

This stuff is amazing. I have picked up pieces of furniture that only needed an application of this before I sold them. It works so well and it is a furniture flipping product I always have on hand. It comes in a few different colors.

Lint-Free Cloths

Good for wiping down your pieces without getting lint all over them.

Tack Cloths

These are great for wiping down pieces after you have sanded.

If you are flipping furniture, these furniture flipping products will make every one of your projects easier and flawless in the end.

Furniture Movers With Wheels

These movers make it easy to move your pieces around as you work on them.

Chair on Wheels

I got this chair for Matt to use in the garage and to be honest, I use it more than he does. I love using it when I am working on furniture pieces. It is on wheels, the seat moves up and down, and the tray makes it easy to hold my supplies when I am working on a project.

Surfprep Sander (“mycreativedays10” is a coupon code to use on your order)

This is the holy grail of sanders. It is an investment but I have my coupon code to help with the purchase. I didn’t get this until about three years ago. It has been a game-changer since I got it. If you are at the point where you can make this sander happen (or put it on your gift list), get it. It is a furniture flipping product that has been a game-changer for me.

This list of furniture flipping products is good for any level flipper.

You can’t go wrong with this list of furniture flipping products. Everyone is at different stages of their flipping journey so this list may be overwhelming for newbies and you may already have some of these things if you are already flipping. You don’t have to have all of these things right away. This is just a complete list of the things I think every furniture flipper should have and use on their projects. If you are just starting out, I would say to get the all-in-one paint I linked above so that you don’t have to get a separate primer and topcoats. I would also say to get an orbital sander. You will also need a good paintbrush. Those are really the three main things you need to get started.

As you do more and more flips, try one or more of the products listed in this post. Don’t let this list overwhelm you. I wanted to add everything to it so no matter where you are in your journey, you can find some products to add to your list.
