Easy DIY Fall Harvest Sign

September 24, 2014 24 Comments

I find inspiration everywhere. I am always browsing stores and catalogs for new ideas to add to our home. Many times, I find things that inspire me to DIY. I always find things that I know we can DIY and save a ton of money doing it. This fall, I was really searching for a fall sign to add to our front fence, but I didn’t find any that I really loved. That didn’t stop me though. I looked around for some supplies so I could come up with my own DIY Fall Harvest Sign that didn’t cost anything and fit the style I was looking for.

I am excited to show you how I did it.

Directions To Make A DIY Fall Harvest Sign:

First, I cut squares from the canvas that would fit on my barn wood. I didn’t measure them perfectly because I wanted to sign to be rustic and not uniform.

Next, I wrote the letters “harvest” on the canvas squares with an orange Sharpie marker. I attached the squares to the barn wood with the gold tacks and a hammer. Be careful not to tap too hard on the tacks because they will bend or break. Work slowly and tap lightly to get them in.

After all the tacks were secure, I drilled holes above the canvas squares. Then, I threaded ribbon through the holes and brought the ribbon up to the top to make a hanger with it (see photos below).

I made bows out of raffia to add to the DIY Fall Harvest Sign.

That’s it! I hung this on the fence we have in front and added a fall garland to the top.

This DIY Fall Harvest Sign could not have been easier to make. The best part was that I used up supplies I already had so it didn’t cost me a dime and I came out with a rustic sign to welcome the fall season.

You never know when inspiration will strike. I was at a few stores and noticed all the fall signs but didn’t love any of them. That inspired me to come home and make this DIY Fall Harvest Sign.

How do you welcome fall?
