Thrifted Decor Adds Spring Touches To Our Home

April 8, 2021 Leave a Comment

It is finally starting to feel like spring. Here in Iowa, we go from winter to spring and back again during March and sometimes April, but I think we are over that hump and heading straight into spring now. There shouldn’t be any more snow creeping in until next winter. Today, I wanted to share how thrifted decor adds spring touches to the living room in our home. I am always sharing my finds and taking you inside the thrift stores with me on my Instagram account, so I thought I would share how I put those found pieces together to welcome spring to our home this year.

I pick up white pitchers whenever I see them. Not only are they great at spring, but they are something you can use all year round. I am getting pickier about the ones I pick up now, but a good white pitcher (in any shade of white) is definitely something I will always pick up. I grabbed three of my small pitchers and arranged them on top of the wood piece that I recently found and shared in my video HERE. This wood piece was a sign with a picture decoupaged on one side.

I just loved the rustic wood it was made of and knew I would use it more like a tray. I took the wire hanger off the back and laid it upside down in the hutch. It was the perfect platform for the pitchers. The mix of the rustic wood and the sleek, white pitchers together makes me happy. I added some faux Baby’s Breath flowers inside of the pictures to really hone in on spring.

Save Money Decorating With Thrifted Finds

I LOVE wood vases, but they can be so expensive in stores. Every once in a while, you can find them in the thrift stores. I have collected three so far. The one on the left was an estate sale find. The man used to make them. Again, I added the faux stems inside and put them on top of a thrifted, vintage scale. It makes the best riser!

It didn’t take a lot to make the hutch look like spring. I found all of the items inside (besides the wood calendar. small pots, and faux stems) at a thrift store, yard sale, or estate sale.

Add Nests To Your Spring Decor

Nests are always fun to add to your decor for spring. I used to have them all over, but have recently gotten rid of a lot of them. I kept this one because it is so big. It made the perfect nest for some letter tiles and another white pitcher filled with small candles.

I have a love of old scales and the color of this one screams SPRING! I picked up the pots from Hobby Lobby years ago. They were so inexpensive with the coupon and they look authentic and old. Pots are a great addition to spring decor. You can fill them with so many things or lay them down as I have here with something falling out of them.

Changing up your decor for a new season doesn’t have to cost a lot or take a lot of time. I shop my home before I change up anything for a new season. When I put something in a new spot in our home, it feels new and doesn’t cost me a thing. Before you buy anything new for a new season or holiday, look around and see what you already have. A little tweaking, moving, or change in styling can make a world of difference.

I couldn’t leave the top of the hutch untouched.

This is the fullest it has ever been and I love it so much. More thrifted items brought together to give a cohesive look.

Here is a time-lapse video of me putting the hutch together:

***ORGANIZATION TIP AS YOU DECORATE WITH THRIFTED DECOR TO ADD SPRING TOUCHES***

I would like to add this little tip here because it has helped me over the years. I love to change up the decor in our home and I am always doing it frugally. With that being said, I am always purging items when I redecorate. I don’t keep anything I am not loving or using anymore. I don’t like a lot of stuff lying around and I definitely don’t like storing things I am not using.

As you redecorate for a new season or holiday, get rid of the things you don’t love as you are moving things around. Sell them and make some money for new things or just donate them. Having a beautiful home is a lot about not overcrowding your spaces and having a bunch of stuff all around. Purge as you decorate. It will keep the excess down and make your home and YOU feel lighter and brighter. Take my word for it!
