I don’t know about you, but when summer comes around, we seem to entertain more. At each gathering, I like to have fun pieces that are unique and great for entertaining. I don’t run out and buy new things every time we have people over. I don’t see the need. If I can DIY my way through the party needs, that is what I do.

Another part of entertaining (any time really) that is extremely important to me is making sure our home smells welcoming and inviting. There is nothing worse than walking into a home that has unpleasant odors. I want my guests to feel comfortable and I think good scents help with that.

This Easy Repurposed Wood Box Centerpiece is one of my latest projects that worked great for a small gathering we had.

Presenting drinks and food in unique ways is fun. I think it makes the occasion more festive. This piece is not only good as a table centerpiece when entertaining, but we can use it for mail, art supplies, napkins and many other things when we aren’t entertaining.
This piece started with a box I picked up for free at a yard sale and a broken piece I found at a barn sale for $1. The “ruler” on the broken piece was so much fun. I knew I could make it into a handle for something.

The other supplies we used for this Wood Box Centerpiece were: screws, chalkboard paint, paint brush, drill, white paint and a circular saw. You can find all of these things at your local Home Depot store.

To start this Repurposed Wood Box Centerpiece, I painted the inside of the box with black chalkboard paint. Next, I measured the ruler piece and cut it in the lengths I needed to make the handle for the box. Then, I screwed the handle in place.

Last, I dry brushed the outside of the box with white paint.

Now that I had the centerpiece done, I went to Home Depot to gather some Glade® products to make our home smell amazing.

I am a sucker for the Cashmere Woods® scent. Fall is my favorite season and I think the smells of fall are great all year round. Glade® Cashmere Woods® captures the essence of a luxurious fall day. Mixed notes of citrus and jasmine and the oaky scents of amber and vanilla beans surround you in the comforts of the cozy season. YUM!

I use the Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil in our porch. With the nice weather, we spend a lot of time in the porch. Continuous fragrance for any size room is just an outlet away with the Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil Warmer. Simply plug-in this warmer for long lasting fragrance that’s adjustable to fill any room in your home with your favorite Glade® fragrances.
Now that our home was smelling fantastic, I just had to add some strawberry lemonade and a few others things to my Upcycled Table Centerpiece. The chalkboard paint makes it easy to write fun messages at the bottom of the box. I wrote “Enjoy” on it this time.
