6 Kitchen Time Saving Tips

3 Mins read

Who could use more time in their day, week or month? I know I could. I don’t know how many times I say, “I wish I had more time to get things done.” Even though we can’t add more hours to our day or days to our week, there are things we can do every day that will ensure we aren’t wasting valuable time. Today, I am sharing 6 Kitchen Time Saving Tips that don’t take a lot of time, but make the world of difference in my kitchen and daily routine.

6 Kitchen Time Saving Tips:

1. Buy Quality Products For Your Kitchen:

This is so important. When you have quality products in your kitchen, you aren’t wasting time with products that won’t work to get the job done. One of my favorites is Hefty Ultra Strong kitchen bags. Hefty Ultra Strong bags are an outstanding quality at a new, lower price and their scent and durability are amazing. (I love the scented bags!) They have active tear resistant technology for better puncture resistance which is something I always need.

2. Purge Often:

I do this often in every room in my home. It is key to keeping on top of clutter and excess “stuff”. If I haven’t used something in my kitchen in a year, I get rid of it. I always have an empty box or I use Hefty Ultra Strong kitchen bags to fill with things we aren’t using. Then, every fall and spring, we host a neighborhood yard sale to get rid of it all. When I don’t have a lot of clutter lying around, I am more productive and have more time for the important things. Less clutter means more efficient kitchen time.

3. Clear Counter Tops:

If there is one thing I can’t stand in my kitchen, it is a lot of clutter on top of the counter tops. I like the counters to be clear of “stuff”. I don’ have appliances (big or small) out all the time. When we need the toaster or milk frother, we grab it out of a cabinet. When we are done with it, it goes back in the cabinet. If I have less clutter on the counters, my kitchen looks bigger, brighter, cleaner and more welcoming to cook and bake.

4. Clean The Kitchen After Dinner:

Messes can stop my productivity like nothing else. If I know something is a mess, I can’t focus on anything else until the mess is taken care of. In the kitchen, that means every night after dinner, we clean the kitchen. We put all the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe down the counters and table and put all the leftovers away. Before I go to bed, I start the dishwasher. That way, when I wake up in the morning, the kitchen is a clean slate. As I make breakfast, I put the clean dishes away and the kitchen is clean to start the day. When I do this, I don’t waste time every morning cleaning up our dinner mess from the night before.

5. Think Outside Of The Box:

I like to have things organized; a place for everything and everything in its place. When it comes to our small kitchen, I need to come up with creative ways to organize things in it. A great way to store wax paper, clear wrap, plastic bags and aluminum foil is in magazine holders. They are easy to grab and you can see what is in them. I also use decorative baskets to store bread and produce like onions and potatoes. They keep things organized and they look pretty too.

6. Use What You Have:

This tip will not only save you time, but it will save you a lot of money. If you feel like you are always running to the grocery store to grab one or two things to get dinner on the table, try to use what you already have in your pantry and fridge. Doing this will lessen the amount of food you throw away and it will save you the time and money it takes to go to the grocery store every day. I think making a weekly grocery list is a great thing, but I try to push myself beyond that and come up with new recipes with the things I already have on hand.
