Faux Natural Christmas Tree

3 Mins read

I want to give a HUGE thanks to Balsam Hill for providing the beautiful Faux Natural Christmas Tree for this post. All opinions are my own.

This post has to be one of the highlights of the season for me. I was ecstatic when Balsam Hill contacted me and asked if I wanted to be a part of their 12 Bloggers of Christmas. After I read the email (and did a screaming, happy dance), I responded with a calm and collected, “I would love to be a part of the group.” {You can see the entire tour at the end of this post.}

The first thing I had to do was pick out a tree. Balsam Hill has many gorgeous trees so it was hard to focus and decide. After going back and forth and finally taking into account what was realistic for our home, I chose the Crescent Hill Cashmere Narrow Christmas Tree. I liked the Faux Natural Christmas Tree vibe it had.

When the tree arrived, it killed me not to rip into it right away. I had to rearrange our living room furniture first. When I finally opened the box, I was surprised to see a big, red bag for storing the tree and two pairs of gloves to wear while we fluffed the tree.

WHAT?!

Not only were the gloves themselves impressive, but there were two pair! Balsam Hill understands the Christmas tree is a family affair and more than one person is usually involved with the entire set-up. Thank you, Balsam Hill.

There were three main reasons why I chose the Crescent Hill Cashmere Narrow Christmas Tree.

First, I loved the look of the branches. There are two different types of branches that come together to make the tree look natural. I planned on decorating the tree with natural touches so this tree was perfect for that. We have never had a real tree because I know the mess it leaves would drive me crazy so a Faux Natural Christmas Tree was the next, best thing.

Second, the tree is pre-lit. I don’t know about you, but it was a game-changer for us when we bought our first pre-lit tree years ago. Gone are the days of spending hours trying to get lights on the tree just right. No more spending hours trying to get lights on the tree just right and then they burn out. Gone are the days of detangling lights for hours before you can even put them on the tree. This pre-lit tree has all the lights placed perfectly and ready to go when you are ready to decorate.

Third, the size of this tree was perfect for our living room. We don’t have a ton of space and our ceilings are only 8′ tall so the Crescent Hill Cashmere Narrow Christmas Tree fit perfectly.

This year, I wanted to build a rustic box to put the tree in. The natural looking tree accommodated the box well and it also lifted the tree a bit. (I will share a quick post about how we put the box together soon.)

The rustic box and the natural vibe of the tree were the inspiration for the decorations. I used my homemade birch ornaments first. These are simple to make if you have birch trees in your area. Slice the branches into discs with a table saw and then add eye hooks to the top of them to string jute twine through for hanging. Easy peasy.

After those were up, I hung white porcelain balls on the tree.

Balsam Hill sent me their beautiful Platinum Glitter Ribbon that I added to the tree.

I made a big bow with it for the top of the tree and then cut it down to make smaller bows for the ends of the branches. Our home was full of glitter when I was doing this. My kids were laughing at me because my face was covered in glitter. I told them, “Tis’ the season for sparkle, twinkle and glittery things!” 🙂

The old, wood skis were a recent estate sale score that Matt found.

I LOVE THEM!

I had to put them up somewhere and even thought about putting them in the tree.

That may still happen as the season goes along.

There is nothing more magical than the Christmas tree lights on at night.

These are my favorite pictures of the tree.

I could not be more happy with our new Faux Natural Christmas Tree. It was a lot of fun to decorate and it fits our home beautifully. We have gotten to enjoy it a lot longer than we normally do and we will be sad to put it away when the season is over.
