Homemade Starbucks Med Ball Tea Recipe For Cold & Flu Season

3 Mins read

This Homemade Starbucks Med Ball Tea Recipe is the perfect recipe to have on hand during the cold and flu season.

If you are like me, cold and flu season happens around the time when I am all about budgeting and saving money and starting the new year off on the right foot. Starbucks and their drink prices don’t align with my goals during this time at all. So, I am always looking for ways to get exactly what I want without spending a lot of money to get it. If I can DIY something, I am doing it. Not only does that show up in the way I decorate our home, but DIYing recipes that I love from favorite restaurants is something I do as well.

Starbucks is great, but I hate paying what they charge for drinks. Call me cheap, but I like to look at it as being financially responsible.

Okay, I am cheap, but if we can settle on “frugal”, I am happy with that. 🙂

I have figured out a way to make a Starbucks Chai Tea Latte for under 50¢ and less than 100 calories, so I thought I would give the Med Ball tea a try as well. If you ever want to DIY something you have eaten or drank at a restaurant, ask the people who served it to you what is in it. Do your research. See if you can find the recipe online. A few questions and a little research will pay off big time when you want to save some money and still have the things you love.

This Med Ball Tea Recipe could not be any easier. I started making it at home when Gabrielle got a cold. We had tried the drink at Starbucks and she was craving it with this cold. I was not going to buy the drink, but I set out to make it at home.

Now, I have the ingredients on hand all the time and I make the tea whenever anyone in the house comes down with a cold.

Let’s get to the recipe.

Ingredients For The Homemade Starbucks Med Ball Tea Recipe:

Teavana Jade Citrus Mint Flavored Green Tea Blend

Teavana Peach Tranquility Herbal Tea

Honey

Ozark Trail 30-Ounce Tumbler (I use this tumbler every day for my morning tea. I love it! Obviously, you can use whatever mug or tumbler you have.)

Lemonade

Tea Kettle

Like with a lot of the recipes I make, I am not great at measuring. It is a little bit of this and a little bit of that when I am testing a recipe and then remembering which amount worked best. I love my Ozark Trail 30-Ounce Tumblers so much and I always make the Med Ball tea in one of them. You may have to adjust the measurements of the ingredients if you are using a different-sized mug and depending on how you like the tea. The tumbler I use keeps drinks cold or hot for hours and they are under $10! They are comparable to a Yeti and cost under $10 is a price point my cheap “frugal” heart can get behind. 🙂

This is how I make the Homemade Med Ball Recipe:

I fill my tea kettle and put it on the stove to boil. Then, I put about 2 T. of honey in the bottom of the tumbler. Once the water is boiling, I pour it on top of the honey and fill the tumbler about 2/3 full. I stir the water and honey to make sure the honey is dissolved. Then, I put in one tea bag each of both the Peach Tranquility Tea and the Jade Citrus Mint Tea. I let the tea bags steep (sit in the hot water) in the tumbler for at least 5 minutes.

Then, I top the rest of the tumbler with lemonade. It is about 1/2 c. – 3/4 c. lemonade. I stir it a bit and it is ready to drink! I leave the tea bags in the drink while we drink it.

As long as you have all of the ingredients on hand, you are good to go. If you like less honey, put less in. If you like more, add more. This is the way we like it and it is what I make it every time someone is needing or craving a Starbucks Med Ball Tea. If is so much cheaper making it at home and you can so much more for the price. It is a win-win and something I think every family needs in their recipe binder during the cold and flu season.
