These 5 furniture flipping products are what every beginner needs to start simple. After 20+ years flipping furniture, here are the real must-have basics.
If you’re sitting there thinking you want to try flipping furniture but have no idea what you actually need to get started, I want to make this really simple for you.
Because after doing this for over 20 years, I can tell you, most beginners way overcomplicate it. They buy too much, spend too much, and then feel overwhelmed before they even finish their first piece.
You do not need all of that.
You just need a few solid basics and the willingness to start simple.
So let’s talk about the 5 furniture flipping products every beginner needs. These are the real essentials I would still recommend today if I were starting over.

5 Furniture Flipping Products Every Beginner Needs

Something to Clean With (don’t skip this)
I don’t care how pretty a piece looks. If you don’t clean it properly, nothing will stick the way it should.
This is one of those unglamorous steps that makes all the difference, and honestly, it’s where many beginners go wrong right away. I shared how I like to clean pieces before a makeover in the post HERE.
I LOVE this product for cleaning furniture before I clean pieces I am making over.

Sanding Supplies
You do not need a full sanding setup or anything fancy.
Just something that helps you smooth things out, rough up the surface a bit, and get it ready for paint or stain.
That’s it.
This is the sander I still use and love for beginners.
Side note: I wrote an entire post about sanding and how to do it HERE.
My Go-To All-in-One Paint (this is the one thing I wish I had started)
This is the one thing I really wish existed when I started flipping furniture.
I use an all-in-one paint that already has the primer, paint, and topcoat built into one can. And for beginners, this changes everything.
No extra steps.
No extra products.
No figuring out layering, sealing, or wondering if you missed something.
You just open the can and start painting.
When I started, this didn’t exist. I was doing all the separate steps, buying all the separate products, and honestly making it way more complicated than it needed to be.
Looking back, I can see how much easier the process would have felt with something like this from the beginning.
Find the paint HERE.
If you’re brand new, this is one of those things that helps you actually enjoy the process instead of getting stuck in all the steps.

A Good Brush
I’ve said this forever. Your brush can make or break your finish.
Cheap brushes make everything harder. Good brushes make you feel like you suddenly got better at painting overnight.

A Simple System to Follow
This one isn’t a physical product like the others, but honestly, it might be the most important thing on this list.
When I started flipping furniture, I didn’t have a clear system to follow. I was piecing things together from random videos, trial and error, and a lot of wasted time and money.
Looking back, I wish I had something that just showed me step-by-step what to do, from start to finish, without guessing.
Because the truth is, it’s not just about having the right tools or products… It’s about knowing how to actually use them in the right order.
That’s why I always tell beginners: don’t just collect supplies, learn the process.
This is exactly what I built inside my Furniture Flipping Academy. A simple, step-by-step system that walks you through the entire process so you’re not figuring it out alone.
Find all the details (and the new LOW PRICE) for the Furniture Flipping Academy HERE.
If you’re new here and trying to figure out furniture flipping, I just want to encourage you. It does not have to be complicated.
You don’t need a huge setup.
You don’t need every tool on the internet.
And you definitely don’t need to wait until you “feel ready.”
You just need a few simple furniture flipping products every beginner needs, a small project, and the willingness to learn as you go.
Start small. Keep it simple. Let yourself get better over time instead of trying to be perfect on day one.
