I love these little frames and whenever I see them at thrift stores, I pick them up. My mom used to have these hung in our home when we were little, so maybe that is why I am drawn to them. I love their tiny size and their ornate flair. They are perfect for making ornaments.

The dark color of the frames is great, but I wanted to make them look more like antique brass. A little gold paint and a dry brush technique gave them that pop of color and patina I was looking for.

I linked small frames in the supply list above, but I wanted to tell you that I have also seen them at Dollar Tree from time to time. It is worth checking there to see if your store has any in stock. I found the silver frames at the thrift store as well. They weren’t old, but they had the same look and were the same size for what I was going for.

I had to use a little more gold paint on the silver frames to get the patina I wanted. Then, I went over them with some darker paint to make it look more “aged”.

These turned out so pretty. I don’t have as many as I would like, so I will continue to look for them while I am out on my thrifting adventures.
