Valentine’s Day Date Night Game: Conversation Stones

January 21, 2015 76 Comments

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? What kinds of things do you do on Valentine’s Day? For Matt and I, Valentine’s Day is laid back. We don’t buy gifts and we don’t go out to a fancy restaurant. We are happy to have Valentine’s Day Date Night at home.

I thought it would be fun to come up with something different for the dinner and these conversation stones came to mind.

I made these stones a few years ago for a Christmas party. They were a lot of fun and sparked a lot of great conversations. I thought they would be perfect for our Valentine’s Day dinner! Often times, when Matt and I get a dinner out alone, we spend the time talking about work, bills, the kids and things that need to get done around the house, etc. Nothing too exciting. These stones will make the conversation more exciting and help us reminisce about memories we have made together.

Looking for a cute game for Valentine's Day? This Valentine's Day Date Night Game will get spark so many conversations. You will laugh, cry and learn all over again why you fell in love.

Supplies Needed To Make Your Valentine’s Day Date Night Game:

A bag of clear glass stones*

Craft glue*

Scissors

Pink printer paper (or any color you have)

A paint brush

It was a lot of fun coming up with different conversation starters. I typed them up and printed them out.

{You will find my free Conversation Starter printable at the end of this post}.

Since I didn’t have pink paper on hand, I just printed them off on white paper and colored them in with a pink marker. You can make them any color you like.

After I cut out the conversation starters, I painted the glue on the back of each stone and adhered the paper on it (face side down).

I painted a few coats of the white glue on the back of the paper as well to ensure it stayed on.

I waited for the glue to dry between each coat.

These stones are so much fun and can be made for any occasion.

We have had some great conversations come out of these little stones.

Here are some of the things I came up with for the stones:

Just saw this and thot it was a great idea. I am going to make them to give to each couple at a upcoming Valentine dinner party. (last year we had 30 couples). Some were newlywed and some were married 50+ years including one couple married 71 years. Looks like fun.

    Hi lindsay!!!

I downloaded your printed circles however could not figure how to use the blank ones. How did you form the circles with the text in side. I have everything ready to go and want to make this as a part of a wedding gift to a friend on Friday. Any help you could give me would be great – tnx again!!! lisa

I just thought people could write them in. Handwritten notes and gifts have gone to the waste side so I thought it would be a nice touch!

Thank you so very much for this great idea! I stumbled across your post on Hometalk at the perfect time….I was racking my brain, trying to find a cute little activity for my husband and I to do for Valentine’s Day, and I instantly fell in love with this idea! It was so easy to make (although I used clear sticker paper instead of hand-gluing all the circles). We had a lot of fun! Thanks again for sharing this idea!

Thank you SO MUCH! When my husband and I were first married we dined out and some places had sugar packets with questions on them. I loved them and have wished for them since. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this!! These have all kinds of possibilities, even with our children, maybe switch up the questions…again Thank you!
