Corner Wall Gallery Ideas

4 Mins read

If you’re looking for Corner Wall Gallery Ideas, I have a decorating idea that is perfect if you love thrifting, collecting unique pieces, and decorating your home with things that mean something to you.

I’ve always loved a gallery wall, but I don’t want mine to look like I went into a store and bought an entire matching collection. I would much rather mix vintage finds, thrifted artwork, old frames, family photos, and pieces I’ve collected along the way.

And taking that gallery wall around a corner makes it even more interesting.

Creating a Gallery Wall Around a Corner

An empty corner can sometimes be one of those spaces that you just don’t know what to do with.

Instead of leaving it empty, use both walls as part of your decorating.

Start your gallery wall on one wall and let it continue around the corner onto the adjoining wall. You don’t have to fill every inch of space. The goal is simply to make the corner feel like part of the overall display.

I love this idea because it makes an awkward corner feel intentional and gives you more room to display the things you love.

Corner Wall Gallery Ideas – Shop Your House First

Before you buy anything, look around your house. This is always one of my favorite decorating tips.

You might have artwork sitting in a closet, an old frame you picked up while thrifting, a mirror that isn’t being used, or a collection of small pieces that you’ve never figured out how to display.

Pull everything together and see what you have.

For a corner gallery wall, you can use:

  • Vintage artwork
  • Family photos
  • Thrifted frames
  • Small mirrors
  • Vintage plates
  • Baskets
  • Botanical prints
  • Old signs
  • Small paintings
  • Architectural pieces
  • DIY artwork

And don’t worry about everything matching.

I actually think it looks better when it doesn’t.

Go Thrifting for Unique Gallery Wall Pieces

If you need a few more pieces, go thrifting!

This is where I think creating Corner Wall Gallery Ideas is really fun because you don’t have to know exactly what you’re looking for.

I look for things that catch my eye.

Maybe it’s an old piece of artwork, or a beautiful vintage frame. Maybe it’s a small mirror or a plate with a pattern I love.

Sometimes I don’t even know exactly where I’m going to use something when I buy it. I just know I love it and I’ll figure it out.

That’s one of my favorite things about thrifting.

You can find pieces that make your home feel collected instead of decorated straight out of a catalog.

Mix Artwork with Unexpected Pieces

Your gallery wall doesn’t have to be made up entirely of pictures.

Try mixing artwork with other things you love.

A vintage plate, small mirror, basket, clock, sign, or architectural piece can add a completely different texture and shape to the wall.

I especially like adding something three-dimensional because it keeps the gallery wall from looking too flat.

This is also a great way to use those random treasures you’ve picked up while thrifting that you love but haven’t known what to do with.

Don’t Make Everything Match

This is probably my biggest tip.

Don’t worry about matching everything.

Mix wood frames with painted frames, and old artwork with family photos. Mix vintage pieces with something new.

If you want everything to feel cohesive, look for small connections between the pieces. Maybe they share similar colors, finishes, or a similar vintage feel.

But they don’t need to be identical.

I want a gallery wall to look like it was collected over time, not like I bought everything on the same shopping trip.

Corner Wall Gallery Ideas – Lay It Out Before You Hang It

Before you start putting holes in your walls, lay everything out on the floor.

Move things around until you like the arrangement.

I like to start with a couple of the larger pieces and then fill in with the smaller pieces. Try to spread different sizes and shapes throughout the arrangement so your eye moves around the entire display.

Once you like it, take a quick picture with your phone. You can use that as a guide when you’re ready to hang everything.

And don’t stress about making it perfectly symmetrical.

A little imperfection is what gives a collected gallery wall its personality.

Make Your Gallery Wall Personal

This is my favorite part.

Use pieces that have a story, like a painting at an estate sale or an old family photograph. Maybe you found a frame at a thrift store for a couple of dollars, or you made something yourself.

Put those things together.

Your home doesn’t need to look like everyone else’s.

That’s one of the reasons I love decorating with thrifted and vintage pieces. You can create a space that feels like you without spending a fortune.

Create a Corner Gallery Wall with What You Love

If you have an empty corner that you’re not sure how to decorate, I hope these Corner Wall Gallery Ideas give you some inspiration.

Start by shopping your house.

Then go thrifting.

Look for pieces you love instead of trying to find pieces that all match. Mix artwork with unexpected objects, use different frames, and let your collection wrap around the corner.

And most importantly, don’t worry about getting it perfect.

The best homes, in my opinion, are the ones that look like they’ve been collected over time and are filled with things that tell a story.

So start with what you love and see where it takes you.

You might just create your favorite wall in your house without spending much money at all.
